OKLAHOMA CITY – After spending hundreds on gifts this Christmas, many Oklahomans are trying to recoup after the holidays.

According to the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants, a spending diet may be just what you need.

First, try not to spend any money outside of fixed expenses for a certain period of time.

In certain cases, you may need to find an extra job or sell items to make a few bucks.

Experts suggest trying to lower your fixed expenses as well, like refinancing your mortgage.

You can also cut back on TV subscription services and eating out.

Also, make a list of all the items in your pantry to see how many meals you can make without going to the store.

Experts suggest hiding or removing your credit cards from your purse or wallet and storing them in a safe place.

With a spending diet, start slowly and assess how you  are doing each week.
