Big 12 football media days ended with a bang. Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby and Chair of the Big 12 Board of Directors David Boren announced today the conference will look into expansion.

The pair said they will contact universities that have reached out to them about joining the conference recently. No timetable was given on when a decision about expansion will be made.

The Big 12 Board of Directors voted unanimously to explore expansion in a meeting in Dallas this morning and afternoon.

Boren said the decision to explore expansion doesn't mean the conference will, but he did say they will look into the possibility of adding "two or four teams" to the fold.

The pair made it clear that TV markets, fan bases, and good academic standings will factor into the decision to allow any school to join the Big 12.
