BEREA, Ohio – The timing may have come as a bit of a surprise but the decision did not.

Browns Head Coach Rob Chudzinski has chosen Brandon Weeden as the starting quarterback for the Sept. 8th against the Miami Dolphins, ending a quarterback competition in Cleveland.

“Brandon has earned this,” Chudzinski said. “He has gained my complete trust. He has gained his teammates’ complete trust and the organization’s trust.”

Weeden beat out Jason Campbell for the starting job after a strong training camp and two preseason games in which Weeden went 18-25 for 229 yards and 3 TDs.

Weeden started 15 games in his rookie year, leading the Browns to a 5 – 11 record.
