Five Sooners, One Cowgirl Earn Big 12 Honors

Five players from Oklahoma and one from Oklahoma State earned postseason women’s basketball honors from the Big 12 conference on Wednesday, March 4.

OU sophomore Peyton Little was All-Big 12 First Team and also the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.

Oklahoma’s Gioya Carter and Kaylon Williams made All-Big 12 Second Team.

OU guard Gabbi Ortiz was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year.

Sharane Campbell-Olds of the Sooners made the Big 12 All-Defensive Team.

OSU’s Brittney Martin made first team, and was on the all-defensive team as well.

OU and OSU begin play in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinals Saturday at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

The Cowgirls meet Iowa State at 11:00 am, while the Sooners face the winner of the West Virginia-Texas Tech game at 6:00.
