Knight leads Sooners to shutout

Bob Stoops improved to 14-1 as OU’s head coach in season openers as the Sooners shut out Louisiana Monroe 34-0.

It was the Sooners first shutout victory since October of the 2010 season.

Trevor Knight and the OU offense struggled early, punting on their first four possessions.

From there Knight settled down throwing three touchdowns, with two of those going to senior receiver Jalen Saunders.

The freshman quarterback also established that he can run, he led OU with 103 rushing yards. Brennan Clay added a touchdown on the ground and finished up with 43 rushing yards.

OU opens up Big 12 play next Saturday, September 7, as they host West Virginia at 7 p.m.
