NORMAN,OK -- For the second straight season, Oklahoma softball pitcher/hitter Keilani Ricketts is the winner of the USA Softball Collegiate "National Player of the Year" award.

Ricketts has been basically un-hittable "in the circle" pitching for the top-ranked Sooners all season long, with a 31-1 record and a minuscule ERA. At the plate, Ricketts often helps her own cause, batting .375 with 13 home runs.

The USA Softball Collegiate "National Player of the Year" award is considered the most prestigious honor in all of college softball.

Ricketts and her Sooner teammates, 52-4 on the season and the #1 seed in the upcoming women's College World Series starting Thursday here in the city, will open play against Michigan at 8:30 pm in the final game of the opening day quartet of clashes at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium, and on national TV on the ESPN outlets throughout the entire championship.
