Oklahoma’s 18th-ranked men’s basketball team opened Big 12 conference play with a 73-63 win over number 22 Baylor on Saturday at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman.
The Sooners held Baylor to just 37 percent field goal shooting, including a 29 percent mark in the second half, when the Bears went more than 7 and a half minutes without a made basket.
Three Sooners accounted for 63 of OU’s 73 points.
TaShawn Thomas led OU with 24 points and added 8 rebounds.
Buddy Hield had a double-double, with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while making four 3-pointers.
Isaiah Cousins had 19 points, with four 3-pointers, and added 8 rebounds.
There were seven ties and nine lead changes in the game, but never trailed after halftime and led by as many as 13 points.
Oklahoma improved to 10-3 on the season, while Baylor dropped to 11-2.
