Former Oklahoma State golfer Hunter Mahan was one of three captain’s picks named to the U.S. Ryder Cup team which will compete against Europe later this month at Gleneagles in Scotland.

Mahan was selected by U.S. captain Tom Watson, who also picked Keegan Bradley and Webb Simpson.

Watson had three captain’s picks to go with nine other players who had automatically qualified based on results through a points system during PGA Tour play.

This will be Mahan’s third Ryder Cup appearance.

He was on the U.S. team that won in 2008 in Louisville, and lost in 2010 in Wales.

Also on the team are two others with Oklahoma ties.

Former OSU golfer Rickie Fowler and Oklahoma City native Jimmy Walker made the team based on points.

The 2014 Ryder Cup matches will be contested Sept. 26-28 at Gleneagles in Perthshire, Scotland.

The matches on Saturday and Sunday will be televised by NBC and can be seen on KFOR.
