OKLAHOMA CITY – If you ask fans of the Oklahoma City Thunder, many will tell you that Kevin Durant is one of the best players in the world.
However, a statement by the Thunder star at a recent news conference is making waves on social media.
This summer, Durant was chosen as one of 34 players to train for Team USA.
Other notable players who are training during the Team USA minicamp include Russell Westbrook, Steph Curry, James Harden and LeBron James.
Despite recovering from an injury, Durant reportedly told reporters that he felt like he is the best player on the planet.

“I feel like I’m the best player in the world,” Durant reportedly said. “No disrespect to other players here, but I always got that confidence… I never had no doubts in myself.”
The Washington Post says Durant is focused on getting back on the court and having fun with his team.
“It’s the year, I’m coming off the injury, a lot of people are expecting me to do this and come back as a better player and a lot of people may be doubting me as well. But that’s part of the game. I’m just trying to have fun playing the game. I just want to smile on the court again and go through that whole season with joy and peace,” he said.
While a potential championship is on the minds of all Thunder fans, Durant’s status with the team is also on the line.
Thunder fans might be thinking about his free-agency status, but Durant says he has more important things to think about right now.
“I haven’t even thought about [free-agency] recruiting,” he said. “I’m just trying to go out there and not get cussed out by Russell Westbrook.”
You’ll probably be seeing a lot more Kevin Durant in the coming weeks, even if you aren’t paying attention to the basketball court.
On Thursday, Foot Locker’s latest commercial was released, featuring the Thunder superstar.
If you can’t wait for the season to start, you only have a little more than two months to go.
Oklahoma City will open the season at home against the Spurs on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
