A local high school football player and his coach will appear on NBC's "Today" show on  Friday morning, Nov. 21.

Crossings Christian School senior Christian Osterhout, along with Crossings head coach Chris Roberts, will appear on Today as candidates in the NFL's national contest "Together We Make Football."

The contest has been going on all season, and has requested fans to send in their stories of what football means to them.

For Osterhout, the sport and his head coach have meant the world.

Just before the season started, Osterhout's mother died, just two years after his father died.

Osterhout moved in with Roberts and his family, and the day of Osterhout's mother's funeral, Roberts' wife Sarah submitted her video for the contest.

It drew the NFL's attention, and an NFL Films crew came to Crossings to film a football game and spend some time with the Roberts family.

Last week former NFL star Deion Sanders visited the school, surprising Osterhout and the Roberts, with an invitation to be on the Today show as a candidate in the contest.

Finalists for the contest will be announced on the Today show, and then the online voting begins, with fans choosing who they think should win.

Voting will start Friday and run through January 4 on the website togetherwemakefootball.com.

You can watch the Today show on NBC on KFOR at 7:00 am Friday.
