OKLAHOMA CITY — Baseball season will be here soon. Opening Day for the Oklahoma City RedHawks is April 4. There are more than 70 home games. The club needs a full staff to keep the ballpark running so the team is hosting several job fairs inside Redhawks Field at Bricktown.
Dozens of anxious workers came for a one-on-one interview.
The RedHawks have hundreds of positions to fill.
Elizabeth Tiegs is a stay-at-home mom of a 2-year-old daughter.
She got the gig!
Tiegs says, “Because I love the RedHawks and I love baseball. It’s Oklahoma. It’s what we do.”
Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting, J.P. Shadrick, says the team is hiring in-seat vendors, concession stand workers, ticket takers, ushers and other customer service positions.
“They’re all fun jobs. You have to have a certain swagger to work here. We don’t want just anyone interacting with our customers,” he said.
The ball club is doubling the number of concession stands this season.
They need close to 200 workers when the house is packed.
Brittany Pena, 18, was hired on the spot.
“You start off at minimum wage, but as you work you get paid higher as you do well,” she said.
Along with the 72 home games, the ballpark also hosts Bedlam and the Big 12 Tournament.
Another job fair scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
