The Oklahoma City Thunder opened their first training camp under new head coach Billy Donovan on Tuesday, September 29.
While the Thunder have a lot of returning players, the new head coach is putting in a new system on both offense and defense, and there’s a learning curve even for the older players as they get familiar with Donovan’s schemes.
Star forward Kevin Durant participated in all of the drills at the first practice and says while he needs to improve his conditioning, he has not lost any rhythm after being out for about six months following surgery on a broken foot.
The Thunder will continue training camp for a couple weeks, with the first preseason game October 7 at Minnesota.
In the video you’ll hear comments from head coach Billy Donovan, forward Kevin Durant, and forward Nick Collison.
