OU’s fall camp stretches on this week.

The Sooners will fire off two practices before sundown.

At quarterback, the derby continues.

Each quarterback is getting equal repetitions, and their coach says naming a starter won’t be easy.

“They’re making it hard on coach Stoops and I and the rest of the staff,” Lincoln Riley, OU offensive coordinator, said.  “They’ve all improved so much.  They’ve taken the weaknesses that they’ve had in the spring, and have improved on those and in some cases made those strengths.  They’re playing well when we get in the team stuff, when we get the reps out there and it’s real, real football.  They’re all producing at a pretty high rate right now.”

Mayfield, Knight or Thomas will hand off to Joe Mixon this year.

The Californian isn’t easy to contain for the Sooners defense and even sometimes for the offense.

“It’s frustrating sometimes when you’re trying to call the next play and he’s fifty yards down the field celebrating with the guy,” Baker Mayfield, OU junior quarterback, said.  “That’s something you like to see.  He gets excited for whoever makes the play, one of the other running backs that’s somebody he’s trying to get the spot against, he gets excited for anybody.  He knows that it’s all about winning, so it’s good to see.”

Samaje Perine’s power in the weight room has already been well documented, and a video of him back flipping off a dock into a lake surfaced this weekend.

For first year running backs coach, Jay Boulware, he said, it didn’t take too long for him to realize he’s got a pretty special player on his hands with a super hero-like physique.

“I’ve been asking him for three years now if I can borrow his chest for the weekend,” Boulware said.  “He hasn’t given it to me.  I don’t need to see Samaje in the weight room to know he can do incredible things.  He’s got an incredible physique.  You can tell by how he eats, and all those other little things that he takes care of himself very well.”
