OU football players Dominique Alexander and Zack Sanchez have been named freshman all-americans by the Football Writers Association of America.

Alexander and Sanchez are the ninth and tenth Sooners all-time to be tabbed all-americans by the FWAA.

OU also had two players named to the FWAA’s freshman all-american team in the same year in 2001.

Alexander was also named the Big 12 defensive freshman of the year and finished this season ranked 18th in the conference in tackles.

Sanchez intercepted two passes this season and had the most interception return yards, 117, since Derrick Strait in 2003.
