Sooner Turnovers Doom Oklahoma in Loss at West Virginia

Oklahoma’s 18th-ranked men’s basketball team committed 22 turnovers and never led in an 86-65 loss to #16 West Virginia on Tuesday night at WVU Coliseum in Morgantown, West Virginia.

The Sooners fell behind by 10 midway through the first half, before a brief rally cut the Mountaineers lead to 35-32.

West Virginia then closed the half with a 10-0 run to take a 45-32 halftime lead, then built on that in the second half, leading by as  many as 24 points in a rout of the Sooners.

WVU outscored OU 27-12 off turnovers, and outscored the Sooner bench 55-8.

Buddy Hield led Oklahoma with 21 points and 8 rebounds.

Isaiah Cousins scored 14 points and Ryan Spangler was the only other Sooner in double figures with 10 points.

West Virginia had three players score in double figures, led by Jevon Carter’s 18 points off the bench.

Oklahoma loses their second straight game to fall to 11-5 on the season, 2-2 in Big 12 play.

Next up for the Sooners is round one of Bedlam on Saturday night at 6:00 in Norman.
