From the good, to the bad, to the downright ugly, it seems as if we saw all shades of the Sooners' defense in their roller coaster of a victory against TCU.
From keeping the Horned Frogs silent in the second and third quarters to allowing 43 points in the first and the fourth.
Safety Steven Parker chalked it up as, 'the best-worst win,' but he also said the most important thing moving forward, "We got a lot of confidence from this game, although we didn't begin well and end well, at the same time, that last drive kind of defined us as a defense and a team."
Linebacker Obo Okoronkwo had two sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss, "We knew the game was over, not to be cocky but we believe in ourselves right now. Our momentum is really going to help us going into next week."
Cornerback Jordan Thomas emphasized the sheer value of having the grit to grind out the win, "You just gotta live off the plays you make. Obviously you don't want to be a loser, and obviously Oklahoma football is all about winning. In those close ones you just gotta dig deep. Offense made their plays and defense made their plays and both sides gave up as many as they made. At the same time it came down to who wants it more, and obviously we did."
Okoronkwo knows there is plenty of room for improvement, "We gotta just keep going up, every week we got to build on something new, we can't make the same mistakes. We finally got a turnover today, that was big for us, that was one of our goals... We just got to keep on adding things to get an identity for our defense."
OU's defense knows its got some work to be done and they better get on it pretty quickly, they've got a date with Red River Rival, Texas, on Saturday.
