In a twist of basketball fate, the Oklahoma City Thunder found out late Wednesday night they’ll play the Houston Rockets and their “new” star player James Harden in the first round of the NBA playoffs starting Sunday in OKC. The Thunder (60-22) finished off their outstanding regular season with a “who cares” 95-89 home loss to the Milwaukee Bucks Wednesday night. Kevin Durant, Kendrick Perkins and Kevin Martin did *not* play, being held out so they can be fully ready to go when the postseason games tip off this weekend.

The Rockets had to beat the Los Angeles Lakers to earn the #7 seed in the NBA’s Western Conference, but LA overcame Chandler Parsons’ line drive 3-point basket at the buzzer to force overtime and the Lakers big men dominated in OT for a 99-95 win at the Staples Center. With the Lakers win, LA moved to the #7 seed to play San Antonio in the opening round of the playoffs while Houston slid to the #8 spot opposite the #1 seed Thunder. Each series will be a best-of-7 game affair with all series tipping off Saturday and Sunday all across the league.
